According to the LA Times, the Santa Monica Pier is debuting its new ferris wheel, and everyone can ride for free from 9:15pm until midnight. There will also be free popcorn, cotton candy, and live music following the lighting ceremony and fireworks at 8pm.
The new 90-ft. wheel will be solar powered-assisted, equipped with 160,000 LED lights. The old wheel sold on e-bay for $132,400.
