The 2008 International Surf Festival is here at last.

Get ready tomorrow, Fri. Aug 1st, for the LA County Lifeguard Championships at 7pm on Torrance Beach.  Also enjoy the U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter & L.A. County Lifeguard Rescue Demo.

Sat. Aug. 2nd

Early birds can enjoy the International Bodysurfing Championships at 6:45 am for a whopping $25 bucks on the Manhattan Beach Pier or watch more of the Lifeguard Championships at night in Torrance.

Sun. Aug. 3rd.

7:30am Paddleboard Championships at the South side of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Glow Glow Glow

This weekend update would not be complete without mentioning Glow.

More than 25,000 people are expected to attend this all-night, FREE dizzying array of effervescent sights, sounds, and music, inspired by Nuit Blance in Paris.

Featuring 20 multi-media art installations, Glow will highlight a solar-powered Ferris Wheel, host to a revolving orchestra.

According to Eater LA, several restaurants will offer specials such as:
- a prix fixe menu at Ocean & Vine at the Loews 

- $5 sangrias after midnight at Bar Pintxo 

- specials at Ye Olde King's Head, The Yard, Thai Dishes, Makai Lounge and more
